In this talk, we shall discuss the heat kernels for some sub-elliptic operators, especially the Heisenberg sub-Laplacian and Grushin operators. Then we shall discuss small time asymptotic expansions and Li-Yau estimates for the eigenvalues of Dirichlet problem of these operators.
