The boundary blowup problem arises from physics, geometry and many branches of mathematics. In this talk we consider the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the boundary blowup problem for the so-called $k$-curvature equation of the form $H_k[u]=f(u)g(|Du|)$, which is determined by the $k$-th elementary symmetric function.
